Importance of setting pipe supports and hangers

We know that the main purpose of piping is to complete the specific pipeline connection between the nozzle of the equipment or with other terminals according to the process flow chart, so as to realize the transportation of process materials through the pipeline to the relevant equipment or terminal. In other words, the pipeline layout design should meet the requirements of the process.
After the purpose is clear, it is necessary to abide by certain rules, so that the piping meets certain requirements in the process of achieving the purpose, not just "pulling the pipe. The requirements for piping are well defined in Clause 3.1.2 of SH/T 3012, namely:

"The pipeline layout shall be planned as a whole to be safe, reliable, economical and reasonable, neat and beautiful, and meet the requirements of construction, operation and maintenance."

There are at least six requirements. The first is to be "safe and reliable", then "economical and reasonable", the third is "neat and beautiful", followed by "satisfying construction, operation and maintenance".

Many people like to put "neat and beautiful" in the first place, while "safe and reliable" is forgotten or ranked last. This sort is wrong, if there is no "safe and reliable", what is the use of "beautiful"? Almost anyone (expert or layman) can use "beautiful" to judge the piping, but rarely take into account the safety and reliability, and it is not clear the underlying reasons behind the unsightly. The requirements of the six aspects of SH/T 3012 are in sequence in the specific implementation. If there is order, there will be contradictions. Both should be taken into account but not offside. There can be no "perfect" thing that is tied for the first place.

In the eyes of some engineers, short, straight and beautiful pipes are "the best". Therefore, when the equipment is arranged or the nozzle orientation is arranged, the relevant equipment (nozzle) is closely arranged under incomplete "thinking" in order to realize the "best" design of the connected pipeline. As everyone knows, the pipeline has the characteristics of thermal expansion and contraction, direct connection or insufficient flexibility of the pipeline will cause thermal stress problems and thermal load is too large, but to the long-term safe operation of the pipeline, equipment or support, such as buried hidden dangers. For example, the flange leaks due to excessive thermal thrust or bending moment, causing an explosion or combustion accident. Therefore, from the equipment layout stage of the device, the above six requirements should be taken into account, and the equipment layout personnel should master comprehensive professional knowledge.
